Who's running for Pride

Philip Warford will be running and raising money for Pride, here is his story...

At the end of August, having heard that a lot of my friends were running the first ever Brighton Marathon I thought I would register and see if I was selected in the public ballot. I logged onto the website, gave my credit card details and before I knew it, had an email saying I had a place. What I failed to pay attention to was that places were on a first come first served basis and not like the London Marathon where it was a public ballot!

So, having secured a place, albeit, unwittingly, I thought I would start doing the odd jog on the treadmill at the gym, to start getting myself prepared. I did the London Marathon in 1998 but dislocated my knee cap whilst running so promised myself I would never do something so stupid again….. oh how the memory fades.

The odd jog was going ok for a few weeks, but the old knee is starting to hurt again and is now badly swollen. So I am taking cod liver oil capsules and need to get myself to a physio quickly. I tried glucosamine tablets but they don’t seem to like me.

So here I am, it’s now coming up to October, I’ve done a couple of 10k’s on the treadmill but injury has stopped training for a bit. Hopefully I will be back on track soon.

Good news though is that the weight is dropping off – yippee!
