Researching with Pride
Thank you for your interest in research with Pride in Brighton & Hove. Pride in Brighton & Hove is keen to support and hear about good quality research that offers insights into LGBT lives and Pride in Brighton & Hove.
Our Research Policy
We have designed a research policy to ensure that Pride is used in line with its charitable aim, which is:
- To promote equality and diversity, and to advance education to eliminate discrimination against the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Community.
We welcome research that:
- Directly contributes to our charitable aim.
- Progresses social change for LGBT people
- Directly benefits Pride in Brighton & Hove
And/or
- That has been designated as a research priority by Pride in Brighton & Hove staff and trustees.
Pride in Brighton & Hove will not support research that:
- Has the potential to create or strengthen prejudice against LGBT people
- Is beyond Pride in Brighton & Hove’s capacity
Getting Support/Permission for your Research
If you research matches these criteria then Pride in Brighton & Hove can offer you support for your research (including permission to undertake the research - which is needed for most ethical research). Please complete a .
The lead trustee for research will make decisions regarding research support in line with the criteria above. This will be in consultation with the Chief Executive where there are capacity implications for the office and/or with the board of trustees where decisions are needed.
Pride will endeavour to make a decision on support forms within 6 weeks, although it is expected that straightforward decisions will be much quicker.
Feedback
Pride would like to use research to understand LGBT lives and improve the way it works. Please send any relevant research reports to: . If you do research with Pride we ask that you feedback your findings in an accessible way, as well as including full copies of the final product (dissertation, papers, reports, thesis etc.) for our records.
If summaries are not possible then please outline on your support form how you intend to disseminate your research to Pride in Brighton & Hove and its members.
